SUPERSENSE addressed a multifaceted brief to acknowledge and amplify Culture for Western Sydney Parklands, working closely with Traditional Owners and artists.

Gabrugal Yana is an 11km bushwalk that connects you with Dharug Country and Culture, and the story of six Dharug Seasons, told through artwork created by First Nations artists. Six hand-crafted art trees represent the changing seasons of this Country.  Gabrugal (also known as Cabrogal) are the people of the area around Fairfield and Liverpool. The clan’s totem is the mangrove or ship worm. Yana means walk.

SUPERSENSE undertook curation, research, content creation and design of all interpretation and wayfinding for this project. Digital interpretation, including how to pronounce season names as also developed and can be accessed along the walk.

SUPERSENSE contributed to a unique art and interpretation experience in the landscape that will become a signature of Western Sydney Parklands. The project also increases awareness of the lands of different clans, such as Gabrugal, that make up the Sydney region.
